Acoustic Routes: A Night With The Celts
Gwen and Keith Giles from Auckland have delighted many of us around festivals and singarounds, will be here for one performance only. With Gwen's stunningly clear, lilting voice and Keith's sensitive guitar accompaniment, they breathe life into many beautiful songs. But then Gwen can also be downright sassy. They perform mainly Irish folk music, songs with stories etched in laughter, love and loss.
Duncan Davidson and Bernard Wells are both known as very fine multi-instrumentalists. Duncan plays accordion, flute, bouzouki and whistles. He's at home sitting in on a traditional music session, in a concert line up or session recording for friends' albums. Over the past 12 years or so Duncan has enjoyed teaching regularly at such music events as Ceol Aneas (Nelson), CelticANZ (Auckland) and Gaidhealtachd NZ (Whangarei Heads) Duncan has played regularly with a number of Wellington and Palmerston North-based lineups.
Bernard Wells is also a prominent figure on the Wellington acoustic music scene, both as a performer and teacher. He plays flute, guitar, mandolin, bass, recorders and keyboard. He has featured in many folk and traditional music line-ups, including the dance band, Chilli Jam.
