Acoustic Routes Couples Concert
LIZ MERTON AND TIM BARRIE who play a selection of music with a Middle Eastern bent on violin, percussion and ud.
A set from them is a bit like a box of Loukoum (Turkish delight). The mixture may not be what you are used to but it will be tasty and sweet.
RUTH BIRNIE AND GERARD HUDSON: Ruth and Gerard have been part of folk music in Wellington for many years, but this is the first time they have featured as a duo in an Acoustic Routes concert. They play a fairly eclectic mix, including material from Richard Thompson, Sandy Denny, Leonard Cohen, Roy Harper and Gerard's take on the humorous songs of Jake Thackray.
ANDREW ZIELINKSI AND JANE MCKINLAY: Jane and Andrew have their acoustic music roots in Americana country with influences like Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris. They do a mix of covers and Andrew's originals. Both have formative roots in Otago and they met via music, singing in an acapella pop/rock choir called The Doubtful Sounds.
Also, a guest spot from SARAH DUCKWORTH, now resident in the US. she's been back in New Zealand with hubby and western swing performer, Don Burnham on a Fern Frond Boogie Boys tour.
