Music 101 picks

If you tune to Radio New Zealand National on Saturdays between 2 and 5pm you'll hear a mean as show called Music 101. We can almost guarantee you'll be like, Damn, I'm gonna listen to this more often. The show's hosted by Kirsten Johnstone, who digs into the local music scene here at home, offers an NZ perspective on musical happening around the globe. Producers Emma Smith and Liisa McMillan (two i's, not a typo) line up artist interviews from a variety of genres, and take you behind the scenes with docos and featurettes prepared by contributing experts. Expect the odd live session and occasional concert recordings. These are the gigs they recommend.
