Kurt aka DJ Tido, has been involved in music since he was knee high to a weta.
Hailing from Christchurch, Kurt has been recording and performing as a percussionist with various bands from his hometown and touring around Australasia since the late 90’s.
He has performed with a variety of musicians and producers some of which include: Hollie Smith, Ladi 6, Shapshifter, Nathan Haines, Scribe, The Shocking Pinks, Solaa, Oval Office, Soane, and Departure Lounge.
Along with life as a musician Kurt has been collecting music since his youth, amassing an extensive vinyl collection. A natural conclusion was to play these records out in public which he has been doing as a Dj for over 13 years. He has spun records around New Zealand and Australia as well as performances in the USA, Canada, Africa and the UK.
He currently hosts the Actual Proof radio show on Base fm every Wednesday morning with a focus on soul filled music spanning Jazz, Funk, Disco, Latin, Afrobeat, Reggae and Hiphop
Kurt has spent time behind the turntables in support of some great artists, such as : Mr Scruff, Lee Perry, The Mad Professor, Jazzanova, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Recloose, Opensouls, and Electric Wire Hustle, among others.
After a recent world trip in which he spent time studying percussion and attending music festivals in Brazil, Cuba, USA and West Africa, Kurt accumulated a wealth of knowledge and inspiration in which to extend his musical expression.
About Bobby Brazuka: Bobbito Brazuka was born and bred in Sao Paulo, Brazil where he developed his love for Samba, Bossa, Funk and Hip Hop on his teenage years.
When he moved to Auckland, New Zealand his musical love mixed with other influences from his adopted land such as Dub, Reggae and Drum’n’Bass.
A Brazilian Japanese based in New Zealand Bobbito Brazuka wears his bicultural roots on his sleeve. Literally – ask him nicely and he will proudly show off his tattoos depicting his connection to Aotearoa ( New Zealand ), the importance of his family back in Brazil and his love of music and football. And just like the artwork etched on his arms, his records tell a story.
