Manuel Bundy & DJ Hudge

at Ponsonby Social Club, 152 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby
About Manuel Bundy: NZ king of jazzy, abstract hip-hop. Has been DJing since 1987. He has played just about every club in New Zealand, entertained audiences around the world, and contributed to an impressive catalog of original recordings. Produces under the name Solephonic for Sugarlicks Records, and is 1/3 of the Turnaround DJs. Also a founding member of this here Mukuna Gig Guide.

About DJ Hudge: Hudge has been DJing at clubs, festivals, concerts and bars from the heights of the Alps to the beaches of Thailand for over 20 years. The basis of his sound has always been Hip-Hop but his unswerving love and encyclopedic collection of music enables him to inject whatever it a takes to rock a party – something he never fails to do.

Hudge honed his skills as a DJ and scratch artist for nearly 8 years with the Funkin Pussy Sound System at the now legendary night at the Africa Centre. He also played at the UK B-Boy Championships from 1998 to 2003 sharing the stage with with Kurtis Blow, Plus One, Dj Kool Herc, Africa Islam, Schoolly D, Rahzel, the ‘Scratch Perverts’, Crazy Legs (the Rock Steady Crew) and Mantronix.

In 2002 Hudge had the honour of supporting the mighty ‘JB’s Funky People’ (Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis, Bobby Bird and Vickie Anderson) and has since then played at a number of gigs for New York’s Fun Lovin’ Criminals. In 2007 he supported MOBO award winner Corrine Bailey Rae on her UK tour.

In 1997 Hudge teamed up with his friends Bez, Jensen, Stern Funk, Rich Strange Talker and Uncle Biggie to create the boat party phenomenon known as Take it 2 the Bridge (TI2TB*). TI2TB have since rocked the rivers and waterways of New York, Sydney, Copenhagen, Turin, Thailand, India (responsible for some mammoth Goan funk parties to rival the mind-numbing Goa trance/techno parties), Stockholm, and Canada as well as the infamous bi-annual parties on the Thames. These word-of-mouth, sell-out parties are simply one of the best finds in London.

For the past 3 years Hudge and the TI2TB crew have smashed up a total of 13 sets at the Dance Village at the mighty Glastonbury. In 2010 the guys will be back there rocking their blend of 'Glasto Funk' to the party hearty. Dont miss it!

Since 2006 Hudge has been touring and djing with MTV's Dirty Sanchez. Hudge has smashed over 250 venues with the boyos including Matter at the O2 Millennium Dome, Ibiza Rocks, Carling Academies, Oceana and Gatecrasher to name but a few. The boys have had 2 Australian tours including the Soundwave Festival '09 sharing the stage with Lamb of God, Billy Talent and Nine Inch Nails. Since then Hudge has been touring with Pritchard and Dainton after the success of the series 'Sanchez Gets High' enjoying a lively UK tour spanning 4 months and preparing for a busy 2010 with gigs in Andorra(Snow Bombing), Corfu, Thailand and Ibiza on the cards.

Since 2006 Hudge has taken on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month at Brixton's WhiteHorse. The night is called the BoogieDown and has consistently been the busiest most successful night there. Hudge is joined by resident DJ, Sound Bwoy Burrell and a variety of guests from Dj Vee, Sweet Bitch Rich, Nic Lloyd, Flic and of course the TI2TB crew.

Hudge has also played corporate functions and parties for Bo Concepts Westbourne Grove, Harrods, Selfridges, T-Mobile, Junkies, Puma, Leopard Films, Ibiza Rocks, Ministry of Sound, Brixton Academy, Dirty Sanchez tour Dj, Warner Music, Universal Music, EMI, Virgin Records, The Dudesons, Dansk Design, Evil From The Needle Tattoos, Helena Christiensen, Fun Lovin Criminals, Corrine Bailey Rae, Ego, Glastonbury, Reading, The London Tattoo Convention, Red Bull, L`Oreal, Urban Caprice, London Fashion Week, Britons Next Top Model.
